Zig-Zag Kelp Macroalgae | Sargassum sp.

Sargassum is a beautiful, brownish-yellow algae that sports small air-filled bladders that help it stay upright. This particular species is not the typical Sargassum you find floating in large mats in the Atlantic, and forms of holdfast. It is much more suitable for the aquarium and adapts fairly well. The specimen you receive may be yellow, gold, brown, or a mixture of the three. This species of Sargassum is not very bushy & may look sparse, but it is a normal growth pattern for this species. It grows in a thin, zig-zag branching structure.
