White-Freckled Hermit Crab | Paguristes puncticeps

The White-Speckled Hermit is a medium-sized species of hermit crab. Will be rusty orange or red in color with white spots. They will not harm most complex macroalgae, though larger specimens may eat soft or thin algae.

Caution: May consume Cymopolia barbata and other small calcareous macroalgae.

*Disclaimer: while we personally have never had our hermit crabs do sufficient damage to most macroalgae species, there is always a chance of hermit crabs taking a liking to a particular macroalgae.
