Iridescent Plume Macroalgae | Dasya sp.

an attractive red macroalgae that grows in an intricately-branching pattern. Under high lighting, this species sports a gorgeous blue/purple iridescent shine along its branches. It is a species of fine turf algae (similar to hair algae) and is very small. The fine intricate branches won’t be seen with the naked eye, and a macro lens is needed to see the structure. It will come attached to substrate or another macroalgae.
