Ochtodes is an attractive red macroalgae that reflects blue and violet light, giving it its signature blueish-purple iridescent coloration. This species is very similar to Hypnea pannosa, but grows less-dense, thicker branches. It also has a more purple coloration.

*Octodes will almost always look grey when first arrived and should color up with adequate full-spectrum lighting. The grayish color does not mean it is dead or the wrong species.
