Carpeting Halimeda Macroalgae | Halimeda opuntia

Halimeda opuntia is a heavily calcified macroalgae that creeps and carpets along rockwork in the aquarium. This species is very unpalatable to most marine fish and invertebrates.

***Halimeda will almost always appear white right out of shipping. This is due to the chloroplasts moving deeper into the algae’s tissue when exposed to the dark. This is normal and is not a cause for concern. Healthy Halimeda will color back up after a few hours of light exposure.***
