Hypnea pannosa, also known as “Blue Hypnea,” is an attractive red macroalgae that reflects blue and violet light, giving it its signature blueish-purple iridescent coloration.

*Hypnea will almost always look grey when first arrived and should color up with adequate full-spectrum lighting. The grayish color does not mean it is dead or the wrong species.
